The leatherback sea turtle could be the most amazing animal on earth. One of just six remaining species of marine turtle, it left its four-footed land forebears more than one hundred ten million years ago, developed flippers, and populated the Seven Seas—before there were Seven Seas.

Though most people have never heard of it the leatherback sea turtle may be the most amazing animal on the planet. It is one of only six remaining species of marine turtle, and uncounted eons in the past its forebears had four legs and lived on land. About a hundred ten million years ago, its legs and feet evolved into flippers sometimes reaching nine feet in length and it began to populate the Seven Seas, before there were Seven Seas.

A Costa Rica tagging expedition recently got underway at Cocos Island to study its green sea turtle and hawksbill visitors.

As we age people like to take stock in what they have done in their lives. People start to think about what they have accomplished, what they have seen and what they still want to do.
