Those of you who are going to holiday in Mexico will be pleasantly surprised at the beautiful beaches around Cancun’s hotel zone. A storm carried a lot of the sand away but it is now thankfully restored thanks to over 200 hundred people helping to restore these fantastic beaches.

The accommodations of the various resorts are inviting and luxurious just as the beaches are.

After the beaches were rebuilt they are about 50% larger than they previously were. Hotel visitors are able to enjoy the additional beach area relaxing and enjoying the many activities that are offered.

The beaches that are sheltered from the strong currents of the Caribbean by the Isla Mujeres are commonly referred to as the north side beaches. The visitors that come to the beach will be pleased to discover that the wave and wind conditions are very calm. These conditions make it perfect to enjoy swimming and other family activities.

Those who enjoy water sport activities may prefer the beach on the east side. The following will give you some examples of the different beaches.

Located at the beginning of the Hotel Zone where the land stretches into the Caribbean you will find Playa Las Perlas, this is a very popular beach for all swimming and water sport enthusiasts, close by are plenty of bars and restaurants.

Playa Linda is a beach on the north side an area where there are many tourist destinations; because of the calm crystal clear water here, this beach is ideal for family water sports. Those of you who enjoy scuba diving will enjoy the tours on offer in this area.

Playa Langosta and Playa Tortugas are two beaches that are known for their pristine sands and relaxing atmosphere. Many water sports enthusiasts flock to these beaches since the waves are more active than other areas making water skiing, boating and water skiing a blast.

Playa Caracol is one of the most popular beaches in the Cancun area. This stunning beach is known for its long stretches of soft glimmering sand and shallow waters leading out to a sandy smooth bottom. This beaches is widely popular for families that have children. Kids enjoy playing in the clear waters and families enjoy visiting the nearby shops or dining in one of the restaurants nearby.

Playa Delfines is popular for single and gay couples, in fact it is known as the unofficial gay beach in Cancun. Just look for that grassy slope down to the beach and you’ll understand what I am saying. Not just that it is a great place for sunning, surfing, and everything in between. Plus, this is one place where the sun is not the only thing that is burning hot.

Travelers that decide on an east side beach will experience much breezier conditions with higher waves than beaches on the north side. However, there a some beaches on the east side to choose from that are family friendly.

Playa Marlin, Gaviota Azul and Chac Mool are probably the most northern on the east side of the hotel zone, though the beaches may not seem as glamorous as other beaches. Due to the high wave action, these beaches are popular for people who enjoy para-sailing, and windsurfing.

Play Ballenas can be found in one of the most exciting areas in Cancun and offers plenty of land exploration possibilities. Visitors enjoy the popular water sports like tubing, boating, swimming and water skiing. Playa Ballenas is a very friendly and fun beach.

Playa Delfines and Playa Nizuc are beaches that are known for offering some of the most scenic views in Cancun. These beaches also offer and abundance of restaurants to relax in after a long day of fun in the sun.
