Experience Paris City Breaks
Paris is the perfect location for romantic city breaks or a short getaway with your family. It has always been an easy city to access for short breaks, but now that the Eurostar only takes two and a quarter hours from London there is no excuse not to take a break here – you could even go for a day and night out and make it back home in 24 hours.
Nipping off to Paris for a weekend or even just a day is an enchanting thought, and now that it is so easily accessible, the thought is even more enticing. You could devote yourself to fun for the entire time you are there and not have to worry about excessive traveling time.
Paris is all about art, fun, walking, great views, food, wine and of course shopping. The Louvre has been there forever and will more than likely remain forever, so if only have a short time, forget about it for the time being, set a day aside in the future for that visit. Chose carefully what you want to do!
The Rive Gauche is a fantastic quartier to visit, but not on a Sunday or Monday. In this quartier, the shops, museums and all kinds of other attractions are closed. If your travel is booked for these days, look for a quartier that is livelier on these days.
Take pains to avoid the Brassiers and look for out of the way restaurants which are privately owned and managed. Most Brassiers these days are part of chains and the food, to put it bluntly, is horrible.
Seek out privately owned and managed restaurants, these still have their integrity and are a much better option. Believe it or not one of the best restaurants is a postage stamp sized bistro called Le Timbre, owned and managed by Chris Wright from Manchester of all places. He is a self taught chef who cooks for as many as 24 people with absolutely no help, La Cerisaie is another good suggestion, they cook pork in a regional way, and you have never tasted anything like their cochon de Bigorre.
