Caribbean snorkeling fun
Nothing is as fun as going down under to see the amazing wildlife of sea creatures. The Caribbean is one of the best places to do it by snorkeling on some of the best shores in the world. We will see some of the ways to benefit from snorkeling and make it a more enjoyable experience, so read on.
To start your snorkeling adventure, you’ll need a friend to go along. Ask the staff at your resort if there are snorkel and fin rentals available- most offer them free of charge or at a nominal fee. Most Caribbean island beaches also rent this equipment to beachgoers, so you don’t really even need a resort. Getting prepared to snorkel is so easy! Make sure you’re protected from the elements- wear your sunscreen, and ideally a wet suit (but at least a long-sleeved shirt). Keep in mind, when snorkeling you’re right at the surface of the water and the sun is right over you. A lot of people don’t realize that the sun’s rays penetrate right through the water.
Wearing long sleeves or a wet suit will help prevent you from scraping your body on sharp rocks underwter. Stay safe by keeping your arms at your sides when swimming. To take a closer look at something, simply kick while holding your breath. Before you continue, rise to the surface and clear your snorkel tube.
While scuba diving is fun, snorkeling in the Caribbean is a lot easier to get the hang of. Scuba divers must be certified before they can hit the water. Not so with snorkeling…you can pick that up in five minutes. Many dive shops offer snorkeling instruction, and some resorts give a mini-course that will get you going.
Once you’ve been taught, you can go on out there and “get your feet wet”. Both diving and snorkeling are fun. Diving is easier on the body than snorkeling, but snorkeling requires less equipment.
If the thought of diving with scuba gear doesn’t appeal to you, snorkeling can be an excellent way to take a look at what’s underwater. When you’re planning your next trip, a Caribbean snorkeling adventure is an excellent choice.
